119 Walmart stores in Florida offering COVID vaccine, including 18 in Jacksonville

Publix, Winn-Dixie is also expanding their vaccine sites into Duval and Clay Counties

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Walmart is joining the coronavirus vaccine distribution process.

Speaking at a Walmart store off of Atlantic Boulevard in Jacksonville Tuesday afternoon, Governor Ron DeSantis announced that starting on Friday, 119 Walmart stores in 34 Florida counties will begin offering the vaccine. This includes 18 stores in Duval County, one in Baker County, and one in Clay County.

About 25,000 shots will be available. According to Walmart’s Regional Senior Director, Rene Pabon, appointments will be available starting Tuesday night and vaccines will be distributed starting on Friday.

“And once they book an appointment, they just need to come here on that day. Fifteen minutes before the appointment, check in at the pharmacy. And pretty much we will just go ahead and vaccinate them. And we don’t expect to have any lines,” Pabon said. “We will also have a post vaccine area where we will watch for people for 15 minutes just to make sure they don’t have any side effects.”

The Clay County location is in Middleburg at 1580 Branan Field Road. The Baker County location is in Macclenny at 9218 S. State Road 228.

The appointment site for Walmart vaccinations can be found here and for select Sam’s Club can be found here.

In addition, Publix pharmacies will also expand its vaccination process to six Publix locations in Clay County and 25 locations in Duval County. This is part of their expansion of 269 new locations. Publix currently has 593 stores offering the COVID-19 vaccine.
