JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — During Governor Ron DeSantis news conference on Monday in Duval County Charter School at Baymeadows, Melissa Anne Matz spoke about about being selected for Florida Teacher of the Year of 2023.
Matz came from Iowa and moved to Florida and has been a teacher in Clay County since then.

“Florida is top state for educators,” Matz said.
Matz explains how Gov. DSsantis values teachers and how he makes good on his promises.
“The teachers salary increase allocation shows that Florida values teachers,” Matz said.
Matz said she became a teacher to better the lives of her students.
“Being named the Florida teacher of the year has been the greatest honor,” Matz said.
