How to make an indoor pet bathroom to keep your animals out of harm's way

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Humans aren't the only members of the family that need to be taken care of during a hurricane.

To make sure your dogs have a safe way to relieve themselves without having to brave roaring winds and possible flying debris, you can set up an indoor pet bathroom.

Patriot K-Nine Training posted a guide on Facebook showing how to set up an indoor dog restroom using a kiddie pool and a few pieces of sod.

The indoor pet bathroom can help a skittish dog avoid having to be exposed to the intense hurricane conditions, which can be loud and frightening for animals.

To keep odors down, sprinkle baking soda on the sod after your animals do their business and store solid waste in sealed plastic bags.

Make sure to always keep your dog on a leash if you do take them outside during the storm.

Remember that hurricane force winds can easily knock down fences and open gates, giving a scared dog an opportunity to escape into the storm.
