JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Action News Jax is learning that dozens of Jacksonville families could soon be looking for a new  place to live.

HUD is terminating Section 8  housing at Roosevelt Garden apartments, according to a letter HUD sent to Mayor Lenny Curry last week.

Action News Jax reporter Courtney Cole is working to learn where these people will be relocated.

On Tuesday afternoon, between the building management and Jacksonville Housing Authority, no one seemed to have answer.

Here’s what we know now: More than 200 units will be affected and, according to HUD guidelines, there will also be 30 days for public comment and families will also get help moving.

TRENDING:

Cole spoke to a woman, who did not want to be identified out of fear of retaliation from management office, who said she was surprised when she found out last month.

HUD also sent a list of eligible properties to transfer HUD funding, including Campus Towers in Jacksonville and Pablo Hamlet in Jacksonville Beach.

The deadline to make the final recommendations to relocate tenants is May 30.

We’ll stay on top of officers here and with the Jacksonville Housing Authority to get answers for these families.
