If you see a letter about students paying for grades in Orange Park, it's not true

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — Action News Jax reached out to the Clay County school board after receiving a seemingly real letter from a local school's administration saying students can pay for their grades.

The letter written to faculty and staff stated, "A student who had previously failed a class can now purchase points to pass that class" and that the points could also  "improve a student's grades on past or future assignments."

TRENDING:

The academic points, which were a $1 per point, would help solve a funding issue for extracurricular activities and "enable students to achieve academic success."

The school board said the letter was a fictional example used by a teacher in a social studies class as part of the lesson. The program does not actually exist.
