CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — Update: According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, at around 7:35 a.m., authorities received a 911 call from a disconnected number, where a male caller claimed to possess explosives and firearms. The caller expressed concern about his son, who he claimed was incarcerated.
In response to the call, law enforcement quickly surrounded the Clay County Courthouse. Despite efforts to trace the call’s origin, the exact source remains uncertain as the phone number used had been “canceled some time ago.” The caller hung up without providing any further information.
As a precautionary measure, the courthouse was placed on lockdown, with authorities conducting thorough searches. Search efforts included detectives walking through each floor and an explosives canine checking the area. Currently, no active threat has been reported.
The courthouse, the primary location affected has reopened. However, access is restricted solely to essential personnel, including courthouse and jail staff.
Felony court cases scheduled for this morning will be moved to Thursday morning. Authorities are still working to reschedule misdemeanor court cases from this morning.
Authorities are treating the incident seriously and are urging anyone with information regarding the call to come forward promptly.
Original: The Clay County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) has reportedly heightened security measures at the Sheriff’s Office and the Green Cove Springs Police Department (GCSPD) after a threat was reported on Tuesday morning.

The threat was communicated through the Saferwatch app, alerting authorities and the community to potential danger at their facilities in Green Cove Springs.
In response to the threat, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) issued an increased presence of CCSO and GCSPD in the area.
The measures include increased patrols and stricter security protocols. All individuals attempting to enter the Jail will be subject to searches. The Courthouse and Administration Building are only allowing employees in at this time.
Additionally, proceedings at the courthouse are delayed for the foreseeable future.
The CCSO has informed Action News Jax that no one is injured and is actively working to locate the individual who made the 911 call.
