IQ Fiber’s Free, high speed, public Wi-Fi now available in Donner, Jordan parks in Atlantic Beach

ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. — Atlantic Beach has announced that the activation of IQ Fiber’s free, high-speed, public Wi-Fi in Donner and Jordan parks and the parks’ community centers are complete. These networks are part of IQ Fiber’s donation to the community, which initially launched with the activation of a free, high-speed network at Jack Russell Park in February 2023.

The donated, outdoor fiber-optic network will not only serve to connect those visiting these parks but will also help with disaster recovery and citizen assistance in case of an emergency like a hurricane.

“We are thrilled to deliver on our promise to Atlantic Beach and its citizens and visitors,” Ted Schremp, CEO of IQ Fiber, said in a statement. “Park Wi-Fi is still rare in our market and beyond, and this project makes our high-speed network available to all.”

All visitors to these three parks and community centers can access the IQ Fiber network easily through a quick, free registration on their connected devices.

Users can connect mobile and wearable devices for sport and fitness, or simply use the park as an alternate connected location for education or work.

Kevin Hogencamp, the City of Atlantic Beach’s deputy city manager, said free WiFi in public parks has tremendous community benefits, including increasing access to information and resources, improving safety and enhancing quality of life.

“The City is grateful for IQ Fiber’s generous gift to the community, which makes it easier for people to stay connected outdoors and undoubtedly will increase park usage,” Hogencamp said.

The Wi-Fi service is powered by IQ Fiber’s 100% fiber-optic network, which is capable of symmetrical speeds of up to 10 gigabits-per-second and is far superior to telephone or cable-based internet.
