JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville dad said someone texted child porn to his phone from a 904 area code. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said it’s investigating.
“I’ve never seen anything so evil in my whole life,” the dad said.
Fearing retaliation, that man asked that we not reveal his name or his wife’s.
He says he got the text Friday when he woke up from a nap.
“I worked overnight the night before, and so I woke up and they had sent me the text message, just a text message from a number I didn’t know. So, I pop it open, and I’m, like, that’s not -- Oh, my God, it is!” he said.
The JSO report stated he was sent four pictures.
It said only one of the messages contained an image and that the other three were blank with small Xs on them.
Action News Jax isn’t revealing what the picture allegedly showed due to its nature.
“It looked like a kid the same age as mine,” he said. “I’ll never get that image out of my head.”
Since the number can be spoofed, Action News Jax Law and Safety Expert Dale Carson said it can be difficult to catch who sent this. But, he said there’s a way for investigators to find out if the child is actively in danger.
“Homeland Security, who are the front runner of those investigations today, have a database that they can very easily look at that particular photograph to determine whether it is historic,” Carson said.
JSO tells Action News Jax, "A detective will follow it up to determine if a crime occurred."
Action News Jax called the number and got a voicemail message.
These local parents have little closure after the traumatizing text.
“I’ll never be able to unsee that,” this man said. “It’s going to haunt me for the rest of my life.”
