Jacksonville Beach Police arrest 24-year-old for attempted murder on 1st Street

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — Two brothers were arrested in Jacksonville Beach Sunday night after they attacked a man inside The Tavern on 1st Street.

Police say Austin and Barret Lennon, 24 and 21, attacked a man inside the popular bar who had told Austin to stop flirting with a female earlier that night.

Witnesses at the scene later told investigators the brothers were seen approaching the victim from behind on the dance floor where they attacked him.

It is not clear in the official police report the kind of weapon that was used to attack the victim, but officers say he was found bleeding from his abdomen and transported to Beaches Baptist Medical Center.

Investigators determined Austin Lennon was responsible.

Austin Lennon is charged with attempted first-degree murder, resisting an officer without violence and disorderly intoxication, among other charges. His brother is charged with battery, resisting an officer without violence and disorderly intoxication.

Austin Lennon’s next court date is November 30.
