JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Your health and safety, it’s the reason we go out every week to get you answers about the places you love to eat. In this week’s original Restaurant Report, Action News Jax Ben Becker tells you about violations that inspectors found at local restaurants:

Becker paid a visit to Metro Diner on Roosevelt Boulevard near San Juan Avenue on Jacksonville's Westside. Inspectors found: potentially hazardous food temperatures, live small-flying insects in the kitchen and an employee with artificial nails working with exposed food.

I’m not allowed to give any information,” an employee told Becker, so he contacted the diner’s operating partner over the phone. He was told the issues have been repaired and addressed.

The Sheik Sandwiches and Subs on Beach Boulevard near Parental Home Road in the Hogan area was cited for an employee-used handwash sink as a dump sink, a toxic substance stored in the food prep area and potentially hazardous food temperatures.

Jax Market Place Take Out #1 on Pecan Park Road has been featured in our Restaurant Report for a second week. Inspectors found 130 dry hard, rodent droppings, equipment in poor repair and a hole in the ceiling near a power outlet. The restaurant is still temporarily closed.

The Jax Market Place Take Out #2 was also in our report for a second week. It was cited for 62 dry rodent droppings, gaskets with a slimy build-up and floor tiles missing.

It remains temporarily closed.
