Jacksonville middle school receives another social media threat

A Jacksonville middle school will have extra security on campus after a Snapchat threat was made known to administration.

Principal Julie Hemphill, of Kernan Middle School, called parents Sunday evening to inform them of the post threatening potential violence.

Hemphill went on to say in the message that law enforcement is investigating the threat.

There will be extra security on campus as well as random security checks, according to the message.

Hemphill asked parents to remind students about the serious consequences of social media threats.

Kernan Middle School also experienced a social media threat on Nov. 15.
