Jacksonville philanthropists to match Salvation Army donations made in April

The Salvation Army announced Wednesday that husband and wife philanthropists Dr. Richard Lipsey and Cecilia Bryant have committed to matching all gifts made to the organization in Jacksonville up to $20,000 for the month of April.

The Salvation Army of Northeast Florida makes it a priority to provide clothes, nutritious food, shelter, and youth programs for those in need, but say they are facing a serious situation as the number of people needing help with food, utilities, rent and clothing continues to climb. As summer approaches, the organization believes requests for assistance will continue to stretch its capacity.

Major Keath Biggers, Area Commander for The Salvation Army commented, “during these difficult times, the needs are much greater for families in our community. We thank the generous donors, Dr. Richard Lipsey and his wife Mrs. Cecilia Bryant for creating this matching campaign and giving our donors and friends of The Salvation Army a chance to make their gifts have twice the impact. This will enable us to be at the forefront in meeting these increased needs.”

Donations can be made online or by mailing a check to The Salvation Army at 328 N. Ocean St, Jacksonville, FL 32202 with an indication that the gift is for the April match.
