Jacksonville police arrest 17-year-old suspect for four counts of attempted murder

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced Saturday afternoon that a 17-year-old had been arrested for four counts of attempted murder.

According to JSO, Caleb Sheffield is charged with opening fire on a vehicle on Sunday.

The vehicle had four people in it and two of them were shot, JSO said.

"This was not a random incident, the vehicle was specifically targeted," JSO tweeted.

The shooting happened around 11 p.m. and JSO responded to a Shotspotter activation around Moncrief Road and Scriven Street.

According to JSO, they were notified of two people with gunshot wounds at a nearby hospital; the victims drove themselves to the hospital.

JSO said their investigation led them to believe that Sheffield was the suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest Thursday.

Sheffield was arrested Friday with four attempts of murder in the first degree with a weapon and shooting a deadly missile.
