The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has identified the person who was shot and killed early Friday morning on Ella Street.

Antonia English, 38, was found between two abandoned homes and later died at a hospital, JSO said.

A local transgender advocate tells Action News Jax that the victim is actually a transgender woman named Antash'a English.

A police report says English was urinating between two homes when someone driving by in a gray car shot at her multiple times. The shooter was wearing a grey hoodie, English told JSO.

One neighbor said they called 911 after the shooting but would not saying anything else out of fear of retaliation.

JSO says this is an active murder investigation.

Friends of Antash'a Devine Sherrington English are now planning a vigil at in her honor. A benefit for English's family will be held at Incahoots Nightclub in Riverside, where English performed for nearly 10 years.
