VIOLENT FRIDAY: 3 shootings reported in 3 hours in Jacksonville, police say
Action News Jax obtained exclusive video of a man ducking cameras in the back of a police cruiser. The man appears to be lying down, hiding his face from view.
JSO detectives said they believe that’s how their one suspect left the scene. That person hasn’t been identified.
JSO does not believe there is a threat to the public.
Officers said they responded to Crownwood Drive in the Ironwood community for a shooting around 1 p.m. Friday, finding the man shot dead in a unit.
Neighbors were concerned violence could occur in their private, gated community.
“It’s all over Jacksonville,” said LaMont Huffman, who lives in the community. “That’s one of the problems. I was at the gas station one night about 11pm and a guy unloaded a clip at the car right by the hospital right down the street at the Gate. So, you think you’re insulated in certain parts of the city, but you’re not.”
“In seven years I never got concerned that something like that could happen over here,” said Natalia Rowe, a mother who lives in the Ironwood Complex.
JSO isn't sure what led up to the shooting, but detectives said multiple witnesses and family members have been brought in for questioning.
JSO has not released the name of the suspect or victim.
