VIOLENT FRIDAY: 3 shootings reported in 3 hours in Jacksonville, police say

“Its' off the chain. It’s off the chain. I don’t know who got shot down there or how many times,  but it don’t make no sense,” Beverly McClain said.

McClain is an organizer for families of slain children and her business is just down the street from where this shooting happened.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said that, on Friday morning around 11:30 a.m. it's shot spotter technology picked up gunshots near 16th Street and Myrtle Avenue.

Thanks to the shot spotter technology, police were able to respond immediately.

McClain said it’s going to take more than police to solve the issue of gun violence.

“Law enforcement can’t do it by themselves. It takes all of us to come together and support each other,” McClain said.

Her organization helps people who’ve lost loved ones to gun violence. With all the recent crime she’s hoping the outside group cure for violence does come to the city, to help make a change and stop the madness.

“We do need to cure violence. We do need help in our community. We can’t do it by ourselves,” McClain said.

Police haven’t arrested anyone and  it’s unclear how many people were involved in the incident. Officers also said it's too early in the investigation to tell if the shooting was related to any other recent shootings.
