The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said it's searching for the shooter who sent a 14-year-old teen to the hospital.

Police believe the shooting happened just before 3 a.m. Sunday in the Lavilla Sportsman Club parking lot in Northwest Jacksonville.

“We don’t have further details,” said Sergeant Ira White, with JSO.

Police said they found the teenager at a home on Spottswood Road, just before 3 a.m. They believe the teen was shot in the Lavilla Sportsman Club parking lot, about five miles away from where he was found.

But when police arrived at the club, they said there was no crime scene.

“We have no witnesses,” Sgt. White said.

Jerome Jones, who lives behind the club, shook his head at the thought of someone so young out so late near a club.  “A 14-year-old shouldn’t be out that time of  morning in an area like this,” Jones said.

Across the street, Joyce Walker, who always has her gate locked, had some questions.

“That time of morning? He had no business out there,” she said.

Meanwhile, police said they don’t know who the shooter is. But police said they will review surveillance video that might have captured the shooting.
