A West Jacksonville man told investigators he shot a burglar outside his home, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
It happened in broad daylight on Woodstock Avenue.
Theresa Perkins said her 22-year-old son was the shooter.

“At first, I thought it was my son, that it had happened to him. But he was telling me somebody broke in and took his Xbox and my TV,” said Perkins. “He told me his name, said he knows him.”
JSO said the man who was shot reportedly broke in through a window.
It’s a neighborhood where caution tape has been a common sight lately.
“In recent days, this area has experienced a little bit increase in violence. So, we have an increased presence out here to make sure that, over the holiday weekend, that we can suppress some of this violent crime,” said Zone 5 Watch Commander Lt. Ashish Sircar.
Sircar said the shooting happened outside, after the shooter confronted the accused burglar.
Action News Jax Law and Safety Expert Dale Carson said, unless the shooter was in imminent fear of death or great bodily harm, he could face charges.
