JSO: Gun held to child's chest during Beach Boulevard carjacking

Police are searching for a man who reportedly held a gun to an 11-year-old's chest during a carjacking on Beach Boulevard.

A Jacksonville Sheriff's Office police report says a woman left her car running with her 11-year-old daughter inside at the Dollar Tree at 11200 Beach Blvd. at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

The family told Action News Jax they were on their way to church, where the woman serves as a youth minister.

“He saw that my wife left the car running and as soon as she left, he approached my daughter, got in the driver’s side, took out a gun from his side and put it to on my daughter’s chest and said get out of the car,” Marco Quiroz said.

According to the police report, the man placed a silver revolver to her chest and told her to get
out of the vehicle.

The report says she tried to keep the passenger door open but the man reached across the seat and pulled the door shut, then fled.

“My daughter starts crying, she starts yelling and she runs inside the store looking for my wife,” Quiroz said.

Quiroz said his daughter’s arm was cut and bruised but did not need medical attention.

“We have to take measures now,” Quiroz said. “When you go outside, just look around make nobody is out there. They’re just hyper vigilant I guess about their situation.”

As police continue to search for the suspect, they are also looking for the black Chevy Suburban with Florida tag GUGA21.

The report said there is a cross by the license plate and some scuffed stickers on the upper edge of the rear window.

Anyone with information is asked to call JSO or Crime Stoppers.
