JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Crime scene units and patrol cars blocked a Jacksonville neighborhood for more than five hours after police say a woman was shot dead in front of a home.

Neighbors said they saw officers with guns drawn on Rusty Lakes Lane after the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office got reports of a shooting at 10:40 a.m.

Officers found a woman with a gunshot wound in front of a home. She died at the scene.

JSO said the woman did not live at the home. Three people were brought to headquarters for questioning.

“Usually it’s very quiet here,” neighbor Willie Farinas said. “Lately, there’s been a lot of police activity.”

A block away on Jan. 19, JSO officers said a man killed two people and hurt two others before turning the gun on himself.

Officers say the gunman once dated one of the victims and ambushed the group as they returned home from a club.

Neighbors tell Action News Jax that they’re being even more cautious after the violence in their neighborhood.

“Keep your houses locked when you’re inside. Be aware of your surroundings. Be aware of who's in and out,” Farinas said.

JSO has not yet identified the woman killed in Saturday's shooting. She's believed to be 40 to 45 years old.

JSO said they are not searching for any suspects. They’re asking anyone with information to call them.
