JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Brittney Donovan has the full report on Action News Jax at 10:

A woman has life-threatening injuries and a man is dead after a double shooting in West Jacksonville, JSO said.

Neighbors told Action News Jax that they woke up to a woman knocking on their door off W. First Street.

When officers got to the scene at 8:40 a.m., they found a man dead inside a home and a woman with life-threatening injuries.

“Somebody just moved in. We’d pass by and see a car in the yard, they just moved in,” Sam Robertson said.

JSO said the woman was able to give very little information about what happened before being taken to the hospital.

As evidence technicians took photos at the scene, JSO said homicide detectives were out trying to solve several other murders.

The victims on W. First Street were among eight people shot in Jacksonville in 24 hours.

“They don’t care. They don’t value life no more,” Robertson said. “They just get a gun and go settle their situation with a gun. It’s sad.”

Neighbors said the gun violence is too familiar in many neighborhoods. A memorial is a block away from the scene on W. First Street.

It marks where Annie Miller and Deborah Ziegler were shot dead in August 2018.

Neighbors and community leaders are both insisting something needs to be done to stop the gun violence.

“These young people, they’re just so violent now,” Robertson said.
