The Florida Highway Patrol said in an incident report that at around 6 p.m. a car was traveling east on Beach Blvd. During that time, a 10-year-old boy was walking south on Beach Blvd, ahead of the car.

The collision happened as the vehicle approached the boy, striking him with the front of the vehicle. The impact resulted in the young child sustaining critical injuries as he was forced halfway through the intersection. The car continued east on Beach Boulevard before coming to a full stop just east of the intersection.

JFRD confirmed that they had transported a pediatric patient with serious injuries.

The driver, a 37-year-old woman, was said to have no injuries as a result of the crash.

All lanes heading eastbound between Kernan and Tamaya Boulevard were closed to traffic for close to two hours.
