JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — JSO is investigating a traffic fatality that occurred on the evening of Friday, December 27.

The accident took place around 9 p.m. on the 1500 block of University Blvd.
JSO states that a vehicle going southbound while a pedestrian was crossing westbound.
The driver of the vehicle advised that the pedestrian was in the center turn lane and as he approached the pedestrian, they stepped out into the southbound lanes where she was struck by the vehicle.
The driver stopped and gave first aid, where Jacksonville Fire and RFescue arrived on the scene to shortly pronounce her as deceased.
The driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene with officers, JSO states there are no signs of impairment.
This is the 159th traffic fatality this year in Duval County and the 45th involving a pedestrian
