NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. — In the courtoom Tuesday morning, a judge determined that Kimberly Kessler, the woman accused of killing Nassau County mother Joleen Cummings over a year ago is incompetent to stand trial.
The judge has ordered for Kessler to be committed to a state hospital with a review in six months.
Kessler is the only suspect in Cummings' death.
Cummings disappeared Mother's Day weekend in 2018.
Kessler, who was Cummings' coworker at a Nassau County hair salon is charged with murder.
Action News Jax reported in May when doctors claimed Kessler was incompetent to stand trial.
State attorneys challenged that-- asking to have another doctor examine Kessler.
It took a judge nearly three weeks to come to a decision after ordering a competency exam.
Cummings' mother, told us last week that she was frustrated with the delays. Her and her grandchildren have been waiting for answers for over a year.
