JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Every week Action News Jax investigates local child care centers to show you how they measure up to state guidelines. In this week’s Kid Care Report, Anchor Letisha Bereola visits a center flagged for a violation inside its day care van.
Emerald City Learning Center located off Soutel Drive is allowed to transport kids to and from the center in their day care van. However, during the center’s recent state inspection, the van was flagged with a class 2 violation—which could pose a threat to the health and safety of a child.
The van’s seat belts were not working, according to the Department of Children and Families inspector.
Bereola visited the center and spoke with its director, Lille Huntley.
When Bereola arrived, Huntley was getting out of the van.
The seat belt was fixed and she’s back in compliance, Huntley told Bereola, while showing her the seat belt.
The second day care in this week’s Kid Care Report is Tender Loving Care Learning Center LLC, located off Yellow Bluff Road in Oceanway.
The child care center had a clean inspection during its recent visit. Violations in the past were class 3 violations --- which are the least serious, according to DCF.
