JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE: Wayman Community Development Corporation sent us the following statement: "We have reviewed September's Administrative Complaint in question as documented by DCF for Biltmore Elementary After School Learning Program. As we did not agree with all violations, we responded to secure a 'Compliance' status. Although multiple violations were documented, some were duplicative of one another. We are compliant with the violations cited in September."
Every week, Action News Jax investigates local child care centers to show you how they measure up to state guidelines. In this week's Kid Care report, Letisha Bereola shows you the violations at one local after-school program and another clean inspection.
The Biltmore Elementary After School learning program is operated by the Wayman Community Development Corporation. The state inspector said they found 16 violations. It received three class 2 violations, which according to the state, could pose a threat to the health and safety of a child. They were for the fire drill log not being completed, no staff member knew CPR and an employee background screening wasn't on file.
The after-school program also received 13 class 3 violations, which pose a low threat of harm to children. Those include employee history verifications not on file, emergency phone numbers not posted near the phone and 10 employees missing the child abuse and neglect forms signed and dated.
Bereola called and emailed Wayman Community Development for a comment on the violations. When she hears back, she'll update this story with their response.
The second day care in this week's Kid Care report is Kidspark off Touchton Road. It's an hourly center that parents use with no commitment. It's very latest DCF inspection was 100% in compliance—no violations.
