CLAY COUNTY — On Friday, Clay County officials said yard waste throughout the county has gone uncollected and are working to resolve the problem quickly.
In a public Facebook post, The City of Green Cove Springs provided the county 4 trucks and drivers, while Public Works staff, Environmental Services and County Manager, Howard Wanamaker, loaded yard waste.
The County said Waste Management is now helping to collect the yard waste and has brought in over two dozen people from other areas to assist.
Routes are being collected in the order of when they last worked.
Officials say before staffing issues began, routes would average approximately 100 tons of yard waste per day. This week, with the help of other companies and municipalities, they were able to collect 192 tons of yard waste.
In the post, leaders say they are committed to resolving the service issues to the people of Clay County.
