NORTHEAST FLORIDA — Churches and organizations in the Jacksonville area are providing free food for families in need ahead of Thanksgiving.
Action News Jax has compiled a list of food giveaways below:
Saturday, Nov. 21
- Feeding Northeast Florida and Winn Dixie are teaming up to give out holiday food staples starting at 10 a.m. at Lonnie Miller Park (7689 Price Lane)
- Bold City Church and volunteers will give out over 1,500 gift card vouchers good for a free turkey (or ham) from Walmart to families in the following neighborhoods: Monaco Arms, Oceanway Manor, Polly Town, and more between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.
- Deermeadows Church, located at 9780 Baymeadows Road in Jacksonville, will hold a free food distribution drive-thru from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Groceries and other items will be placed in the trunk of cars.
- The Clara White Mission will give out pre-Thanksgiving lunches to families from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 613 Ashley Street.
- First Baptist Church of Middleburg will give away Thanksgiving meals to the first 1,000 families that arrive on campus at noon. Each meal will include a 10lb-12lb turkey, green beans, turkey stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and a pumpkin pie. The church is located at 2645 Blanding Boulevard in Clay County.
- In Jacksonville, the Mayor’s Community Based Crime Reduction Program will host its Community Impact Day from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at 1401 Grunthal Street, on the Edward Waters College campus. Free Thanksgiving baskets will be given to attendees while supplies last. COVID-19 safety guidelines will be followed.
- The Sanctuary at Mt. Calvary, located at 2360 Kings Road in Jacksonville, will be giving out turkeys from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 22
- Glorious Bethlehem Temple is giving out gift cards and turkeys on a first come, first serve basis starting at noon at 2051 Ashland Street in Jacksonville.
Monday, Nov. 23
- The Pendas Law Firm will give one turkey per family to those in need from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at their office located at 3250 Beach Boulevard in Jacksonville. Participants are required to wear a mask and social distance. The turkeys will be given out on a first come, first serve basis.
Tuesday, Nov. 24
- The Jewish Family & Community Services will provide food and gift cards to purchase turkeys ahead of the holiday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Max Block Food Pantry located at 6261 Dupont Station Court East in Jacksonville.
Wednesday, Nov. 25
- The Jewish Family & Community Services will provide food and gift cards to purchase turkeys ahead of the holiday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Max Block Food Pantry located at 6261 Dupont Station Court East in Jacksonville.
