Live roaches an issue at several restaurants

DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — This week health inspectors found live roaches in all three restaurants that top our list.

Action News visited Gator's Dockside on 103
RD Street in Jacksonville. Inspectors found live, small flies in multiple places, more than 50 roaches and raw sewage on the floor. It was temporarily closed for one day so they could clean up. The manager did not want to go on camera, but tells us they addressed all of their issues and were checked again the next day by a state health inspector so they could re-open with a clean and updated inspection.

At Hong Yip Chinese Restaurant in Lake City, inspectors temporarily closed the establishment because of roaches, both alive and dead, an employee touching ready-to-eat food with bare hands and a blackish-green mold-like substance in an ice machine.

Woody's BBQ in Orange Park was on the restaurant report two weeks ago and they're on it again. Inspectors found 25 violations including live small flying insects, live roaches, and food stored in the ice used for drinks.
