It’s that time of year again.
Soon love bugs will swarm into our lives, turning the front of our cars into bug graveyards.
A single swarm of lovebugs can reach into the millions, and there are two major swarms of lovebugs each year: September and May.
The acidic body chemistry of an adult lovebugs can damage you vehicle’s paint, so grab that bucket and soap. Things are about to get messy.
According to Nationwide there are five simple steps to get what’s left of these tiny creatures off your grill:
1. Completely soak the bug-laden area with water. If the bugs are especially plentiful, apply a light layer of baby oil to further loosen them.
2. Lightly scrub the area with a wet dryer sheet.
3. Rinse often and use new dryer sheets.
4. Scrub until they’re gone.
5. Clean off any leftover love bug residue, then wash and rinse your car.
Waxing your car can protect it from the bugs’ splatter and a light coating of cooking spray on the side mirrors will make it easier to remove love bugs later.
