On March 26, deputies were brought out to a house in the southeast district regarding Brad Timothy Germain, 41, who had a violation of probation warrant for his arrest, according to the St. Johns County sheriff.
Upon the first deputy's arrival, someone in the home said Germain was along a nearby woodline. Backup deputies began to search the area. Germain was found and physically restrained by several deputies and placed into handcuffs.

According to SJSO, the deputies found a 12-gauge shotgun round in his pocket, along with a glass pipe and a lighter.
Deputies say they also located a metal pipe with a homemade device attached to the end. The initial contact deputy stated the suspect had pointed the device at him twice, once at his chest and once toward his face, while he was approaching Germain.
When deputies secured the pipe and inspected it, they found that the pipe was, in fact, a homemade 12-gauge shotgun containing a shell that had at least one "strick mark" on the primer of the shell, which indicated it had been intended to fire, according to SJSO.
As deputies walked Germain to the patrol car, he tried to break free from the deputy escorting him. After a struggle to gain his compliance, one deputy had to be taken to Flagler Hospital for a non-life-threatening hand injury, according to SJSO.
Germain was served a warrant for the attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, resisting arrest with violence and violation of his existing probation.
