JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man has been arrested in the shooting death of a 22-year-old man in Jacksonville.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's office said Charles Smith, 21, was arrested in connection with the shooting death of Quinton Gray.

The shooting happened on Dec. 30, 2016, in the 5600 block of Holly Bell Drive in Fort Caroline.

JSO said Smith didn't know the victim. He had a "stare down" and words with two men in a convenience store parking lot. He later shot into their car, striking one in the head.

Smith is charged with murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Gray died from his injuries on Jan. 5 and Cedrick Moss was in the car at the time, but survived.
