Mandarin Oaks Elementary, Mandarin Middle locked down after false threat

STORY: Ohio teen who killed himself at school planned 8-step school shooting

Access to Mandarin Oaks Elementary and Mandarin Middle School in Jacksonville was limited Friday after reports of a possible unauthorized intruder in the area.

The report was determined to be a false threat.

Both schools were Code Red lockdown for around an hour. A Jacksonville Sheriff's Office helicopter could be observed orbiting the area.

The action led dozens of parents to show up to pick up their kids. By 1 p.m., parents were forming a line at Mandarin Middle School.

Some of the parents were holding their kids close as they walked out.

“All of us out here concerned and scared for our children,” said Lanisa Robinson, a mother. “My daughter texted my phone, ‘I’m scared …. come get me.’ I had to drop everything.”
