Authorities said they arrested a 16-year-old for allegedly attempting to rob a customer at gunpoint at a Dollar General store in Marion County.
Travis Charles Sharpin tried to rob the customer who was leaving the store located at South U.S. Highway 441 on Nov. 8.
Deputies said they immediately interrupted Sharpin when a confrontation occurred and Sharpin fled on foot.
A Marion County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit followed a track that led directly to Sharpin’s residence.
Authorities said they were unable to find Sharpin that night, but instead found his bicycle, which was left at the scene. Family members and neighbors identified the bicycle found at the scene of the attempted armed robbery as Sharpin’s bicycle.
Sharpin was arrested the next day for separate incidents, which included an armed robbery and several armed residential burglaries, authorities said.
During a search warrant of his residence, detectives said they found numerous stolen firearms, suspicious masks, and holsters in his bedroom.
Sharpin was identified by the attempted robbery victim as the suspect during a photo lineup, deputies reported.
Sharpin has been arrested and charged with felony attempted armed robbery and is being held in the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Detention Center.
