Mayor-elect Donna Deegan announces inauguration plans

Jacksonville, Fla. — Donna Deegan, the first woman to be elected as the Mayor of Jacksonville, will be sworn in on July 1.

There are several events planned to mark the occasion.

The Mayor’s Inaugural Prayer Breakfast will be held Friday, June 30 at 9 a.m. at the River Club on Riverside Avenue. This is a ticketed event.

Her swearing-in ceremony is set for Saturday, July 1 at 11:30 a.m. at the Jacksonville Center for the Performing Arts on Water Street. This event is open to the public.

Later Saturday, at 7 p.m., the Mayor’s Inaugural Ball will be held. This, too, is a ticketed event.

Deegan’s camp plans to release ticketing information in the near future.

“I am thrilled to gather with friends, family, supporters and residents as we usher in a new day and celebrate my swearing-in as the next mayor of Jacksonville,” Mayor-Elect Donna Deegan said in a news release. “Together, we will unite our city and bring about positive change for good. With open doors at City Hall, we will ensure that every voice is heard as we create a Jacksonville that embraces and uplifts everyone.”
