Substitute teacher allegedly inappropriately touched student at Jacksonville middle school

A substitute teacher at a Jacksonville middle school has been removed from the classroom for inappropriate behavior, according to a letter sent home to parents Wednesday.

Principal Katrina McCray of Mayport Middle School said she received a report that a student was inappropriately touched by the substitute teacher.

McCray said she acted swiftly to immediately remove the teacher and reported the incident to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Duval County school police and the Department of Children and Families.

"This person will have no interactions with children at our school," McCray wrote.

The incident is under investigation.
