JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — According to the St. Johns Riverkeeper, officials are monitoring a fuel leak situation after a Boeing 737 plane carrying 143 people skidded off the runway into the river Friday night.

WHAT WE KNOW:
- Some fuel from the plane escaped due to an outgoing tide after the incident
- NAS Jax's team has the fuel contained by booms/barriers around the plane
- NAS Jax is looking into how they can recover some of the fuel that is outside the barrier/boom area
- NAS Jax's pollution team is the leading the investigation
- USCG and City of Jax also have people monitoring the fuel spill
