Royal said she and Knox’s mother, Renee, were on the phone with the 36-year-old Wednesday night, but something seemed off.

“She wasn’t in very high spirits like she normally is,” Royal explained.

According to loved ones, Knox left her boyfriend’s house and was walking along State Road 121, where she wanted to be picked up.

"Her mother sent a friend to go pick her up and by the time she got there, the ambulance was already there,” Royal said

According to Florida Highway Patrol reports, Jackson drove off the road, hit Knox and then drove back to his house.

On Thursday, Knox’s mother was too upset to share memories.

She said she wanted what happened to her daughter to be a warning for others.

“No matter what you go through in your life, if it is not love ladies, get out of it,” she said.
