91-year-old Jacksonville man dies in fiery crash on I-95 in Nassau County, FHP says

A 91-year-old Jacksonville man was killed in a crash that led to a fire on Interstate 95 in Nassau County on Monday morning.

The crash happened around 11 a.m. on I-95 northbound just south of U.S. 17, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The man was driving a Hyundai sedan, merging from the right shoulder into the right lane, FHP said.

A tan semi-truck, driven by a 46-year-old man from Kentucky, was also traveling in the right lane.

FHP said the Hyundai pulled into the semi-truck’s path, which resulted in the crash.

“After the collision, both vehicles became engulfed with flames,” FHP said in a news release.

The semi-truck driver was taken to the hospital and the man driving the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene, FHP said.
