JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Action News Jax has reported on several shootings in Jacksonville since 2017 where a child was either injured or killed by gunfire. The victims ranged in age from 2 to 17 years old.
In 2017, 29 children were shot. Four of those shootings were fatal.
As of August 2018, at least 19 children have been shot. Four of those shootings were fatal. The latest deadly shooting involved a 7-year-old girl.
Feb. 8: An 11-year-old was shot on Lewis Street.
Feb.18: Tashawn Gallon,7, was shot and killed while in a Jacksonville front yard. An arrest has not been made in connection with his death. A $10,000 reward is being offered for an arrest of his killer.
April 21: A 17-year-old was shot in leg at 1010 Acorn Street.
April 29: A 14-year-old was seriously injured after being shot by their mother in the 7700 block of Playschool Lane.
April 30: A 2-year-old was accidentally shot in the 400 block of West 71st Street.
May 4: A 17-year-old was shot at Cross Creek Apartments.
May 4: A 10-year-old boy shot in drive-by. He was inside his house, playing video games at the time of the shooting in the 2500 block of Jessica Lane.

Aug. 6: A 17-year-old male was shot in the abdomen and right foot.
Aug. 14: A 16-year-old was shot in the 2200 block of Fairfax Street.
