Update: No arrests yet in death investigation of Jacksonville father
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the death of father who was found shot to death inside his home in Argyle Forest.
Investigators say when they arrived at the home on Macnaughton Drive, police were met outside by a man who advised he was involved in a shooting inside the house.
Police detained the man and found the victim inside unresponsive.
A neighbor, Jeff Wood, is still shaken by the shooting. He is especially concerned for the victim's two small kids, who reportedly ran to his house after the shooting.
"They said their dad had been shot," Wood said. "I took them inside, put them in my room and called the police."
Wood was tempted to go check on his friend.
"My initial reaction was to run over there," Wood said. "But then thought about my kids -- and his kids -- and I just made sure they were safe."
Wood can't imagine what may have led to his neighbor's shooting death.
"I can't see him doing anything crazy," Wood said "I've known him for awhile. Our kids play together. It's just a tragic situation."
