Neighbors in St. Johns County subdivision looking for answers to drainage problem

Homeowners in one St. Johns County neighborhood say their yards and streets flood frequently, to the point where their properties are even eroding away.

The Windward Ranch subdivision is expected to include more than 500 homes when construction is complete.

Many homeowners have already moved in and have been living there for a couple of years, and say the lack of drainage is a real issue.

“What you have is drains coming up into the middle, and all this water with nowhere to go,” said John Wasilak, who mows lawns for many homeowners in the community. “It just stands here.”

Homeowners say rainwater sits in the yards, eroding the soil. They say this is causing areas between and behind homes to sink.

"You can see where the corner of my lot is actually dipping," said homeowner Mitch Ghaneie.
Homeowners tell Action News Jax that Lennar has told them the drainage issues are the homeowners' responsibility.

We sent multiple emails to the company to ask about the concerns, once through the website and once through a spokesperson. As of late Monday evening, we had not heard back.
