JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — A water park, go carts, putt putt and an arcade. For decades Adventure Landing in Jacksonville Beach has been a place where families visited to have some fun. But that will soon come to an end.

Action News Jax reported last week when the parent company for Adventure Landing filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December 2019. Jacksonville’s Westside location permanently closed on Sunday. The Beach Boulevard location will close this October.

Court documents show JB Fair Park MF LLC. purchased the Beach Boulevard property for development purposes. New renderings show what will be placed on that property.

Approximately 427 new apartments are set to be built, along with parking and land set aside for conservation.

Many tell Action News Jax they don’t want to see Adventure Landing go.

“I really feel like that’s going to be a loss to our community and the resources here at the community,” Sheryl Trudy, a business-woman and homeowner, said.

Others say they plan to come out to the site before it shuts down forever.

“Now that they’re closing at the end of October we’re going to try and make it a few more times to make up for it,” neighbor Tim Oconnell said.

The developers say they are planning to submit an application within the next 30 days. The first step is getting the land use and zoning changed for the project to move forward.

They’re also asking for community input.

A lease agreement between the attraction and developers say the Jacksonville Beach location has until February 28, 2022 to remove all property.
