The app allows families to report crimes, threats and suspicious activity to police.

Users can upload video and photos and even initiate a panic button that includes your GPS location.

Law enforcement can also use it to send out mass notifications -- including during active shooter situations.

The first 18 months of service would be free. It would cost a total of $33,750 over the span of six years.

The contract goes into effect July 1.

Action News Jax contacted the police department to find out when the app will be rolled out to neighbors. A spokesperson said they plan to release more information in the near future.
