JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — BE PREPARED: Download the First Alert Weather app ahead of hurricane season
The First Alert Weather Team is monitoring a disorganized and weak disturbance over the Bahamas producing heavy rain and some gusty winds over the islands.
The disturbance will drift west/northwest toward Florida on Thursday and then turn more northward through Friday.
The result will be some much needed rain for Northeast Florida on Thursday and especially Friday -- two weeks since the last significant rainfall.
No development of the system is forecast before reaching Florida. There is a slight chance for some development over the West Atlantic northeast of Jacksonville, but will be moving away then.
The official start of the 2019 Atlantic hurricane season is 30 days away.
