Jacksonville father shot, killed: No arrests more than 24 hours later

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the death of a father who shot and killed at his home in Argyle Forest.

More than 24 hours after that deadly shooting, no arrests have been announced.

Neighbors told Action News Jax that the shooting happened after an argument and that's when the victim’s kids ran across the street for help.

"They were just terrified and just kept repeating, 'My dad, there’s blood everywhere,'” said neighbor Julie Wood.

Wood told Action News Jax the victim's 8- and 4-year-old children pounded on her door late Wednesday night crying for help.

"...their dad had been shot and was dead," Wood said regarding what the children told her when they ran to her house Wednesday night.

Police say when they arrived at the home on Macnaughton Drive, there was a man outside who claimed he was involved in the shooting.

JSO tells Action News Jax there was also a woman inside the home.

Neighbors said the victim is Scott Bowman, and the woman is his fiancée. The two recently got back together after going through a divorce, neighbors told Action News Jax.

Records show police have been called to the home before. Neighbors say at least two other times.

A check of the victim’s criminal background shows Bowman was arrested for domestic battery twice, but the charges were dropped in both cases.

“He’s a gentle guy, wouldn’t hurt anybody," neighbor Jeff Wood said.

"Scott was a good person. Really nice. Always willing to help us out," said Julie Wood.

Authorities have not officially released the name of the victim, and are still investigating.
