JACKSONVILLE — If you want to get the COVID-19 vaccine, but you’ve been waiting on the opportunity to get the Johnson and Johnson shot, now you do so can at three different pop-up sites.
The Florida Division of Emergency Management will be offering Johnson & Johnson vaccines at following pop-up sites over the weekend:
Saturday, April 3
Highlands Regional Library
1826 Dunn Ave., Jacksonville, FL 32218
10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Mary Lena Gibbs Park
6974 Wilson Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32210
10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Sunday, April 4
Main Library
303 N. Laura St., Jacksonville, FL 32202
10 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Each site will have 400 doses available. If all those doses are administered before 7 p.m., the sites will close early.
People started showing up at Highlands Regional Library before 8 a.m. Saturday morning to get their J&J vaccine.
“We were waiting for this,” Lasandra Henderson said. “We wanted the one and done.”
“I’m relieved. I’ve been looking forward to it,” said Juan Figueroa. “I’m glad that I was able to do it. And, just one shot, and it’s done. And I’m happy that I have it.”

Figueroa is flying to Puerto Rico Sunday morning for a family emergency, so he needed a last-minute vaccine.
“I saw it on the news this morning and I came and it took me like 15 minutes to get it done,” he said. “It was perfect.”
Henderson is just trying to be proactive. “I want to keep everybody safe,” she said. “I want to do my part.”
With folks already in line, vaccinations began at 8:37 a.m., almost an hour and a half ahead of schedule.
“It was quicker than expected,” Henderson pointed out.
For Henderson, the short wait is definitely worth the long-term solution. “It was an awesome experience, and I would suggest this to anyone,” she said.
According to the Florida Health Department, 368,552 people have been vaccinated in Duval County as of April 2.
