Jacksonville Beach police want to talk with witnesses after a 23-year-old man was killed and a second person was hurt in a shooting during Fourth of July celebrations early Wednesday morning.

Police said Glen McNeil Jr., 23, died and another person was injured in the shooting near SeaWalk Pavilion at approximately 1 a.m.
The shooting happened several hours after the Jacksonville Beach Fourth of July fireworks show.
Police said McNeil died at the hospital and a second victim who has not been identified was treated for a minor injury.
Several people told Action News Jax that they heard what they believed were gunshots but thought they might be fireworks.

Jacksonville Beach police are asking for anyone with information about the shooting to call (904) 270-1675.
“Right when I was leaving work I heard some things going on, I thought it was fireworks I went inside, I clocked out, and right when I clocked out I saw all these cops coming by and I thought 'Well, that’s kind of strange,'” said witness Shaun Pratt. “It is kind of scary to know that this is going on in your neighborhood. You’re out here to have a nice good 4th of July."
