Police identify 3 people arrested during Black Lives Matter protest in Duval

Officers said the three people arrested during a Black Lives Matter rally in Duval County refused to stay on the sidewalk as a group of protesters walked across the Main Street Bridge.

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said officers were accompanying a group of protesters who began marching through downtown after a protest at the Duval County Courthouse drew a crowd of approximately 300 to 400 people.

The group reached the Landing then continued toward the Main Street Bridge.

Officers warned protesters to stay off the interstate or they would be arrested but Mina Salahshor, 18, Dominique Smith, 25 and Joseph Smith, 21, failed to stay on the sidewalk.

They were arrested and brought to JSO's pre-trial detention facility, where a crowd gathered.

JSO said officers will remain at the protest to ensure the safety of demonstrators and provide traffic control.

JSO said Smith is also charged with driving while license suspended for a prior warrant.
