JSO claims that a 20-year-old man was driving a red SUV with 4 passengers aged 13, 11, 14, and 15 from football tryouts at Legend Center.

The 20-year-old is believed to be a coach for the football team bringing the kids home.

When the vehicle came to a stop on Moncrief Rd., unknown suspects shot at the car multiple times. Three inside the car were shot.

One shot was a 13-year-old boy who was taken to a nearby hospital and died due to his injuries.

The 11-year-old passenger was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition.

Both the 14 and 15-year-old did not reportedly sustain physical injuries in the shooting.

Traffic is currently blocked on Northbound New Kings Rd.

JSO reported that people at the scene were able to provide a detailed description of the possible suspects.

Sheriff T.K Waters was at the scene stating his frustration. “Can we please stand together and can we please fight this problem we have in our community because it is very frustrating it shouldn’t happen and we lost a 13-year-old kid tonight just going home from football. They [Officers] will not rest and continue their work until they find out who is responsible.”

This is a developing story and will be updated when details arrive.
